German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on Friday that Germany will provide €29 million (about $34 million) in immediate humanitarian assistance to Gaza, following Israel’s approval of a ceasefire with Hamas.
Merz stated on X that the funds will be allocated to support urgent humanitarian needs in the enclave. He also confirmed that Germany, in cooperation with Egypt, will invite international partners to a conference aimed at coordinating the reconstruction of Gaza.
The announcement underscores Berlin’s commitment to supporting humanitarian relief efforts and contributing to post-conflict recovery in the region.
