German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has announced on Wednesday that Germany plans to lift a travel ban for European nations as of June 15.

This decision came within the framework of the continent's measures to further ease restrictions imposed to contain emerging Coronavirus.

“We have decided today that the travel warning for the named circle of countries will not be continued but replaced by travel advice,” Maas said, referring to EU nations plus a number of countries in the region including Switzerland, Iceland, and Norway.

It is worth mentioning that, the number of confirmed Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Germany has risen to 182370 on Wednesday including 8551 deaths, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases.

RKI added that the number of cases rose by 342, compared with the previous day, and the death toll climbed by 29.

Germany has decided to reopen all schools and shops after weeks of shutdown imposed to curb the spread of the emerging coronavirus, according to a draft agreement seen by AFP.

“Gradually, schools should make possible education of all pupils while implementing appropriate hygiene measures and upholding distancing rules,” the document read.

Regarding shops, requirements “for hygiene, managing entry, and avoiding queues forming” would be imposed.

It is worth mentioning that, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
