German medical authorities decided on Thursday to allow AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine to be given to adults of all ages.

Using AstraZeneca was restricted for people over 60 years old amid blood clotting concerns.

The main reason for this act is speeding up the vaccination rollout in the country to protect the most possible number of residents. Receiving the vaccine won't be obligatory.

The new decision has been passed to the Lower House of the German parliament to have the final approval.

The expected date for applying the decision in case it is approved would be in June. Moreover, it is planning to offer the vaccines for 12-18 years old children in August.

Currently, the country is trying to back the vaccination rollout fearing the outbreak of the third wave of the Coronavirus, and the impacts of the new mutated versions of the virus.

It managed to fully vaccinate only 8.6% percent of the population, on the other hand, it offered the first dose of the vaccine only for at least 30%.
