Germany decided to extend the lockdown measures until March 28 to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

In a meeting with the governors of Germany's states, German Chancellor Angela Merkel indicated that local authorities in states will be able to take decisions on easing restrictions, depending on the epidemiological situation in each particular state.

“These should be steps toward opening but at the same time steps that do not set us back,” Merkel told reporters in Berlin. “There are a great many examples in Europe of a dramatic third wave.”

Moreover, she pledged that “spring 2021 will be different from spring a year ago.”

On Wednesday, Germany registered 9019 new coronavirus cases and 418 deaths.
