Germany secured a 2-1 victory over United States men's national soccer team in an international friendly at Soldier Field on Saturday as both sides completed preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Germany made a dream start when Kai Havertz headed home after just three minutes to give the visitors an early lead.
The United States responded before halftime through Antonee Robinson, whose powerful strike in the 37th minute brought the hosts level and energized the home crowd.
After the break, Leroy Sané restored Germany's advantage with the winning goal in the 57th minute, sealing another positive result for Julian Nagelsmann's side ahead of the tournament.
Germany enter the World Cup on an impressive run of form and will open their Group E campaign against Curaçao on June 14, before facing Côte d'Ivoire and Ecuador in the group stage.
Meanwhile, the United States will begin their home World Cup campaign against Paraguay on June 13, hoping to capitalize on home support as one of the tournament's co-hosts.
The friendly offered both teams a valuable final test, with Germany showing their attacking quality and resilience, while the United States demonstrated encouraging signs despite the narrow defeat.
