The German national team achieved the biggest victory of the 2026 World Cup, defeating Curaçao 7-1 in their opening match of Group E at the Houston Stadium in Texas, USA. The tournament is being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Germany took the lead in the 6th minute through Nmecha, but Curaçao equalized in the 21st minute with a historic goal from Livano Comeniusia – their first-ever World Cup goal, as the Caribbean nation is making its debut appearance in the tournament.
In the 38th minute, Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck scored Germany's second goal. Nmecha then won a penalty before halftime, which Kai Havertz converted, giving Germany a 3-1 lead at the break.
In the second half, Germany started strongly as Curaçao's players seemed to give up. Die Mannschaft scored three more goals through Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown, Denis Ondav, and Kai Havertz in the 47th, 68th, 78th, and 88th minutes, respectively.
With this result, Germany earned their first three points in Group E of the World Cup, which also includes Ecuador and Ivory Coast.
