German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier stressed the urgent need for cooperation with Egypt and working together to overcome the crises affecting the region, following the spread of wars that threaten stability.
Steinmeier expressed his happiness at being the first German president to visit Egypt in 25 years, noting that Cairo has a long history filled with achievements. He described the city as a bridge between continents and civilizations, combining the wisdom of ancient times with the dynamism of modernity.
In his speech at a reception organized by the German Embassy in Cairo to welcome him, German president praised the interest of around 440,000 Egyptians in learning the German language.
He also mentioned the presence of seven German schools and a university, along with the contribution of German companies to the Egyptian economy, including one company working on a railway network connecting Alexandria, Suez, and Cairo.
The president also commended the quality of technical education in Egypt and the German-Egyptian partnership in this field, which benefits both the Egyptian and German labor markets.
