German Foreign Minister (FM) Annalena Baerbock expressed deep relief over Lebanon’s stable security situation in recent months, emphasizing that diplomacy is proving effective.
She stressed the need to make every possible effort to ensure the continuation of the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
In a statement published by the German Foreign Ministry on X today, Wednesday, Baerbock reaffirmed her rejection of any permanent occupation of Lebanese territory by Israeli forces.
She stated that finding a solution that respects both Israel’s security interests and Lebanon’s territorial integrity is key to achieving lasting security.
Baerbock also highlighted a major achievement for Lebanon in January when the country successfully elected a new president. She noted that the new Lebanese government has introduced an ambitious reform program, adding that Lebanon’s future lies in cooperation among its diverse religious and political groups.
