Happy returns. The holy month of Ramadan is approaching, and with it we begin the Ramadan Iftar and gatherings that we all know, the beautiful family gathering, eating fatty food, watching soap operas, and Ramadan series, which I hope this year will have a message.

I hope that we will avoid fatty foods, especially those with diabetes and blood pressure, and that there will be awareness among people about what diabetics, hypertensive patients, those with chronic diseases, and heart patients should eat, they should consult their doctor and be careful to reduce salts and saturated fats as the gathering of the family for Iftar makes us forget our illnesses and worries and stimulates the appetite. As for the most beautiful thing about Ramadan, it is social solidarity, Egypt is considered the most country in the world that witnesses solidarity in Ramadan. Ma'edat Al Rahman” (tables of mercy) are spread in the streets, offering juices and dates to passers-by at Iftar time, and Ramadan bags are distributed ahead of the holy month and contain everything the family needs during the holy month.

In Ramadan, we eat lots of oriental sweets, such as kunafa, qatayef, umm ali and basbousa, I hope we eat them in moderation. If we replace sweets with dried fruits and nuts, we will feel better energy and will not suffer from lethargy after Ifar.

When I asked some friends about their rituals in Ramadan, and what will they eat on the first day? The answer was stuffed duck, and the dessert will be kunafa and qatayef! As for who would you like to break your fast with on the first day? Someone told me: with the family. No matter how busy I am, I have to be with my father and mother on the first day in Ramadan.

Ramadan is not a month of laziness, food and drink, but rather a month of worship, and work is worship. Oh God, accept our fasting, our prayers, our work, and our worship, and make us among those whose sins will be forgiven in the holy month. Oh God, grant us the ability to reach Ramadan safely.
