French government spokeswoman Olivia Gregoire said on Monday that the dissolution of the French National Assembly (Parliament) “is not on the table at the moment.”

French Prime Minister (FM), Elizabeth Born, considered that the results of the parliamentary elections that failed to give a majority to any party “pose a danger to the country”, vowing that President Emmanuel Macron’s party will seek to build alliances immediately.

Final figures showed Macron’s bloc winning 245 seats, while an absolute majority required 289.

The far-right National Rally Party achieved a major breakthrough by winning 89 seats, and the Left Alliance won 135 seats to lead the opposition.

French President Emmanuel Macron cast his vote in the legislative elections in their second round.

Macron tweeted: “Like the millions of French men and women expected at the polls today, I voted. Thanks to all who allowed the poll to take place. You make our democracy alive.”

Deutsche Welle published a report on the second round, in which about 48 million voters are expected to vote, amid a heat wave hitting France, which may affect the turnout in the elections. More than 50 percent of voters boycotted the elections in the first round on June 12.

Pollsters expect Macron’s camp to win the largest number of seats.
