French Ambassador in Cairo Stéphane Romatet said on Wednesday that there is no other choice except abiding with the articles of the the Berlin Summit to solve the crises in Libya.

This came during a symposium, titled “Egypt, Libya, and Berlin Conference” in the presence of President of the Egyptian-European Council Mohamed Abou El-Enein as well as the Brazilian and Belgian ambassadors in Cairo.

Romatet added that the European Union (EU) and Egypt should help adopt the 22 paragraphs of the Berlin summit through pressure and sanctions to ensure a permanent ceasefire.

He pointed out that the two parties must guarantee the truce, calling for the imposition of sanctions on the parties that prove their violation.

"A political solution is not a question, and it is the only way out of the Libyan crisis," he asserted.

The French ambassador noted that if military power was used in Libya, no one would win the war, adding that Libya's resources is being exploited to finance arms from external powers, promoting the  smuggling of weapons, oil, and human trafficking.

"We don't want another Syria in Libya," the French Ambassador concluded.
