Italian football legend Francesco Totti's father died of Corona virus, according to several media outlets.

Enzo Totti passed away on Monday morning, at the age of 76, in the "Lazzaro Spallanzani" hospital in Rome, where he was being treated for the disease that had exhausted the health system across the world.

Totti senior leaves behind his wife, Fiorella, and their two sons Riccardo and Francesco alongside grandchildren Chanel, Cristian and Isabel.

Enzo was a big fan of his son Francesco and was present at most of his games- including travelling to away games.

He would often turn up to Francesco's training sessions too.

He had suffered a heart attack in his late years, which prevented him from traveling and supporting his son in Italian stadiums.

"Rest in peace Enzo. The club sends its deepest condolences to his wife Fiorella, his sons Francesco and Riccardo, and to the entire Totti family. Our hearts are with you all at this sad time," the Roma club, where Totti spent his long career, said on Twitter.

Fans turned to social media to send the condolences to the 2006 Italy World Cup winner and his family.
