A French security delegation is expected to visit Israel this week to discuss the deteriorating security situation along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

Senior French officials, including President Emmanuel Macron, the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs, and Macron's former personal representative, Jean-Yves Le Drian, have previously conveyed direct warnings to Beirut about the risk of an "open battle" with Israel.

According to Lebanese sources, Western pressure extends beyond halting "skirmishes" between Israel and Hezbollah and emphasizes the need for compliance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.

Western powers are pushing for the implementation of the eighth paragraph of the resolution, which calls for the withdrawal of weapons and fighters from the area extending from the Lebanese-Israeli border to the Litani River.

Hezbollah has launched a media campaign accusing France of pushing for an "Israeli agenda" that includes amending the international resolution to make its implementation mandatory.

Sources in Tel Aviv report that the French delegation will discuss with Israeli officials the cessation of missile exchanges with Hezbollah and preventing the situation from escalating into a full-scale war.
