The French national football team will play their final match of the European qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup when they visit Azerbaijan this evening at the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium in Baku.

France are at the top of Group D with 13 points from five games, recording four wins and one draw, scoring 13 goals and conceding 10.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan sit at the bottom of the group with just one point, coming from a single draw alongside four defeats, having scored two goals and conceded 13.

The French team officially booked their ticket to the 2026 World Cup after their emphatic 4–0 victory over Ukraine in the fifth round at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

The win guaranteed them the group lead with a six-point gap over their closest rivals.

However, France will be without three key players: Kylian Mbappé due to suffering from right ankle inflammation; undergoing further tests in Madrid, Eduardo Camavinga, who is out with a hamstring strain, and Manu Koné who is suspended after receiving a yellow card against Ukraine.

This qualification marks France’s 17th World Cup appearance in history and their eighth consecutive participation.

It is also the fourth World Cup reached under the leadership of manager Didier Deschamps, following the 2014, 2018, 2022, and now 2026 editions.
