After publishing a footage of the incident, the authorities launched an investigation into the allegations that the man, a music producer, had been subjected to physical and racial abuse at the hands of the police.

CCTV cameras and a mobile phone camera caught the beating at the entrance of a building and circulated on the Internet; the event went viral on French television channels.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanan told French TV Channel 2 on Thursday that the officers would be punished if the allegations were confirmed.

The musician, who only identified himself as "Michel", told reporters that the police stormed into his music studio in the 17th district of Paris on November 21.

He stated that he was walking in the street without a mask and when he saw a police car, he entered the nearby studio to avoid the fine, but the police tracked him inside, beat him and assault him in racist terms.
