France is set to host its inaugural international security conference on March 13th and 14th, named "Paris Conference on Defense and Strategy," echoing the structure of the Munich Conference and other major international security forums.

General Benoit Durieux, the head of the Defense Academy at the Military School, announced on Thursday that the first session, dedicated to "Europe at a Crossroads," aims to "allow French and European strategic thought to express itself."

The conference will be attended by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda and will feature 63 roundtable discussions and various events with participants including officials from 68 nationalities, legislators, diplomats, military attachés, researchers, and academics.

From the French side, the conference will be inaugurated by the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sebastien Lecornu, and concluded by the Chief of the Defence Staff, Thierry Burkhard. Additionally, 22 defense company leaders will participate in the conference.

General Durieux highlighted the changed global landscape post-February 24th, 2022, stating, "The world as it was before February 24, 2022, no longer exists.

Objectively, Russia poses a threat to Europe." He emphasized the importance of collaboration and collective decision-making, which should emerge from thoughtful discussions and ideas.

The conference will offer analyses and discussions on various topics including lessons from the war in Ukraine, Mediterranean and Pacific issues, African matters, the new situation in the Baltic Sea, military models, misinformation, human resources, the future of security structures, and NATO.

The French Defense Academy, established in the fall of 2023, unites 20 research and training organizations and think tanks involved in strategic debate in Europe.
