Former French World Cup winner David Trezeguet said he will support his Argentine root and cheer for Lionel Messi against France on Sunday evening in Qatar.
Trezeguet believes that the record seven-time Ballon d'Or winner deserves to be the champion this time. He said: "I repeat it continuously, for me emotionally, knowing that it will be his last World Cup, Leo deserves to be champion.”
“He makes people dream. It does not take away France's ambition to keep the title. France came to be the world champion,” Trezeguet added.
The former world cup winner highlighted that the age differences, noting that Leo is at the end of his career, while Kylian Mbappe just started and will set all kinds of records.
"Together at PSG, they are the perfect combination, but Argentina plays for Messi. Everything goes through him. It isn't easy, personally or emotionally,” Trezeguet concluded.
“Something I didn't want, but hey, this has to be a party, and it's a great final. It is what we all expected. Due to characteristics, and history, they are the two best teams in the World Cup.”
