Former Foreign Minister (FM) Ambassador Nabil Fahmy stated that the region is undergoing a phase of reshaping its dynamics, with Israel and Turkey leading these efforts.
He emphasized that Egypt and Saudi Arabia are the most capable countries to counter this restructuring, underlining their responsibility to work collaboratively to address the mounting pressures.
During his appearance on the program "Akher Kalam" with journalist Lamis El Hadidi on ON TV, Fahmy remarked, "Israel seeks to eliminate Arab identity, while Turkey focuses on promoting sectarian identity over Arab unity to serve its interests. Although they differ, they share the same goal. Even Iran benefits from a fragmented Arab world and prefers dealing with sectarian groups rather than a unified Arab entity."
He added that both Western and Eastern major powers are primarily interested in the region's wealth without any real commitment to safeguarding Arab interests, stressing the importance of fostering collective Arab efforts.
Fahmy concluded, "Absolute alignment in Arab positions is unrealistic, but there must be a foundation for consensus."
