Egyptian authorities arrested former national team striker Amr Zaki on Friday at Cairo International Airport while he was attempting to travel abroad, in order to enforce outstanding judicial rulings issued against him.

Airport security officials detained Zaki after confirming that court verdicts had been issued barring him from leaving the country.

According to local media reports, security checks revealed that the former footballer’s name was listed on travel ban records in connection with family-related legal cases.

Further investigations showed that a final court ruling had sentenced Zaki to one year in prison in connection with a case of unintentional injury that occurred in the city of El Alamein.

Following his arrest, the relevant authorities took the necessary legal measures and placed Zaki in custody, pending his transfer to the competent prosecution office to complete investigations and enforce the judicial rulings in accordance with the law.

Sources stressed that the arrest was carried out as part of routine security procedures at Cairo International Airport, aimed at ensuring the implementation of court decisions and preventing individuals wanted by the authorities from leaving the country.
