Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan held an extensive briefing session for regional and international media representatives accredited in Egypt to outline the country’s position on ongoing regional developments.
During the session at the Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty said Egypt is working to reduce regional tensions through diplomatic efforts and dialogue, in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. He affirmed Egypt’s support for Gulf states, Jordan, and Iraq, and its rejection of any actions that affect the sovereignty and security of Arab countries. He added that Egypt is maintaining contacts to encourage negotiations between the United States and Iran in an effort to contain escalation.
The minister also addressed other regional issues, including the Palestinian situation, where he reiterated Egypt’s rejection of settlement expansion and stressed ongoing efforts to advance political arrangements in Gaza and support Palestinian institutions. He also spoke about developments in Lebanon and Sudan, stressing the importance of maintaining state sovereignty and supporting stability.
Rashwan said the media has a responsibility to present accurate information, noting coordination between Egypt and Gulf countries in their official positions. He warned against misleading narratives on social media and stressed the importance of relying on verified information.
The session included responses to questions from journalists on regional tensions, Egypt’s foreign relations, and other issues.
