Today,  Tuesday, Crown Prince Charles of the United Kingdom (UK) will open Parliament in place of Queen Elizabeth II, who announced that she will not attend the occasion for the first time.

The British newspaper, "Express", quoted Peter Hunt, a former royal correspondent for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), as saying that the crown prince is close to becoming the de facto ruler of the country.

This comes as Charles prepares to replace the Queen at the official opening of Parliament today as an unprecedented move, as Queen Elizabeth bequeathed her son Prince Charles to the opening of Parliament on her behalf.
