Football Legends have sent their tributes to the former Barcelona and Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o after announcing his retirement from football.
The four-time African player of the year winner declared his retirement on his official Instagram page, following an outstanding 22-year career since he started his illustrious adventures in football in 2002 at Santiago Bernabeu with Real Madrid.
Barcelona star Lionel Messi sent his best wishes to the Cameroonian on his official Instagram page.
"Have you decided to stop, Samu? I thought you would reach 40 at least ... All the luck in the world in what you want to do from now on, genius,” Messi said according to BarcaBlaugranes website.

Chelsea and Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba congratulated Eto'o upon his remarkable career.
"Congratulations upon this illustrious career. Africa is very proud of one of its greatest ambassadors," Drogba wrote on its official Instagram page.

Barca's legend Carles Puyol also congratulated the former Inter Milan star upon his outstanding career.

Regarding his achievements, Eto’o claimed gold at the 2000 Olympics, as well as, he received the African player of the year award four times.
Eto’o's outstanding moments was at the Camp Nou, where he won two Champions League, Four La Liga titles, Copa del Rey, as well as he claimed two Supercopa de España titles since he joined Barca in 2004.
Eto’o began a new illustrious challenge at San Siro, where he won his third Champions League with Inter Milan and Serie A.
He also won Coppa Italia titles twice; he also claimed the Fifa Club World Cup trophy with the Italian side in 2010.
Regarding his national team, he won two Africa Cup of Nations titles with his national team in 2000 and 2002.
The 38-year-old led his national team at four Fifa World Cups, scoring 56 goals on his 118 caps for the Indomitable Lions.
