Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry stressed on Thursday that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is always keen to support development efforts in Africa.

During his meeting with a number of editors, Shoukry added that the 'Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development' comes within the framework of Sisi's efforts to build strong African ties, noting that the forum 2nd edition will be held next March.

The FM also added that the 1st edition achieved great momentum as it served as a platform for the African point of view, and highlighted Egypt's interest in the African continent and its issues.

Moreover, Shoukry noted that Egyptian diplomacy is being relied on to develop the black continent, counter-terrorism through security coordination, raising competencies, and exchanging mutual experiences, as well as African Union (AU) mechanisms.

In addition, he stressed that Egypt enjoys a unique status and great advantages thanks to its religious institutions, Al-Azhar, and the Egyptian Church.
