Egypt’s Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry participated in the event organized today, Sunday, by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, the US Chamber of Commerce, and the US Special Presidential Climate Envoy office, on the occasion of the visit of the US “Green Trade Mission” to Cairo, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

The mission includes companies and financial institutions interested in investing in green energy in Egypt, and will explore ways of cooperation in light of Egypt’s upcoming hosting and presidency of COP27.

Shoukry delivered a speech during the event in which he indicated that the visit of the US mission comes within the framework of the Egyptian-American joint move to strengthen relations between the two countries at all levels and to build on the outcomes of the strategic dialogue between Cairo and Washington, which was held in Washington last November.

He also pointed out to both countries’ kenness to explore the great opportunities available, in order to increase US investments in Egypt, especially in the fields of renewable energy and green technologies.

Moreover, FM also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to mitigate the repercussions of the global economic crisis, resulting from the current geopolitical tensions, and the rapid measures taken by the state to support economic stability, stimulate investments, and protect the most vulnerable groups in society, within the framework of the ambitious economic reform program that has been adopted by the government since 2016.
