Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, conducted on Friday evening, a phone call with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Johann Wadephul, as part of the ongoing consultations on regional developments, foremost among them the situation in Gaza.

Minister Abdelatty briefed his German counterpart on the latest developments in the catastrophic humanitarian and medical conditions in the Gaza Strip, the progress of the ceasefire negotiations, Egypt's efforts to ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to the Strip, and the need to remove all obstacles placed by Israel to the full and unconditional flow of aid.

The call also addressed the extremely negative repercussions of recent Israeli statements and policies.

Minister Abdelatty highlighted the seriousness of the illusions of "Greater Israel" and the establishment of settlement units in occupied Jerusalem.

The two ministers agreed on the grave danger these policies and statements pose to security and stability in the region.

Minister Abdelatty also affirmed Egypt's complete rejection and condemnation of the Israeli government's plans to expand its military operations in the Gaza Strip and its settlement expansion in the West Bank, in an effort to perpetuate the occupation of Palestinian territories.

He emphasized that these policies undermine the chances of calm and achieving peace, and highlighted the need for the European Union to take action to put an end to the Israeli escalation.

The two ministers also reiterated their complete rejection of the policy of starving the Palestinian people and causing a severe deterioration in the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

Minister Abdelatty emphasized that these repeated Israeli violations constitute a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and all international conventions and norms.

He also reiterated his appreciation for the German government's announcement to suspend arms and military equipment exports to Israel that could be used in military operations in Gaza, stressing that this is a step in the right direction.

For his part, the German Foreign Minister welcomed Egypt's tireless efforts to achieve a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The call also addressed the latest developments in the Iranian nuclear file, with Minister Abdel Ati Ali reaffirming the critical importance of a peaceful resolution to the issue and working to de-escalate tensions in the region and avoid military solutions.
