Brazilian club Flamengo announced on Monday that head coach Filipe Luís has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until December 2027, reinforcing stability during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

Flamengo have enjoyed an outstanding run under Filipe Luís, winning seven trophies in less than a year and a half.

The most notable achievement came in 2025, when the club lifted the Copa Libertadores, cementing his status as one of the most successful coaches in Flamengo’s modern era.

The club confirmed the extension through its official website, stating that the new deal represents a continuation of a long-standing relationship between Filipe Luís and Flamengo.

The statement highlighted that he has been closely associated with the red and black colors since childhood, building a deep bond with the club first as a player and later as head coach.

Negotiations between the two parties were not without challenges, as Filipe Luís reportedly requested improved salaries for his technical staff.

The club initially rejected the proposal before eventually approving it, paving the way for the agreement to be finalized through December 2027.

Since taking charge, Filipe Luís has led Flamengo in 88 official matches, suffering just 11 defeats.

His most recent loss came in the final of the Intercontinental Club Cup against Paris Saint-Germain, a match that ended Flamengo’s impressive run of results on the global stage.

The contract extension reflects Flamengo’s confidence in Filipe Luís’ vision and leadership as the club looks to maintain its domestic and continental dominance in the coming years.
