First Lady Entissar El Sisi celebrated Monday International Women's Day, pointing out to challenges and difficulties Egyptian women face.

"We celebrate Egyptian women on the occasion of International Women’s Day; it reflects their journey that is filled with giving," she tweeted

The First Lady added that "Egyptian women proceed with the same spirit of enthusiasm and sincere determination despite all the challenges and difficulties."

"I send my warmest greetings to every Egyptian woman, with pride and gratitude, who proved with her work, production, patience and sacrifices that this nation derives its consciousness, strength and glory from her," she noted.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year. It commemorates the movement for women’s rights.

“I pay respect to the Egyptian women, who carry the conscience of this nation upon her shoulders,” President Abdel Fattah El Sisi tweeted on Monday.

He added that women are the “source of inexhaustible benevolence and goodness, and the power of safety and sacrifice that is renewed over time, as it is the first source of wisdom and principles, and the basic foundation for building the family and its cohesion.”
