On Monday, Serie A side Fiorentina released a statement with a medical update about their Edoardo Bove.
Bove collapsed without having any encounter with any player on the pitch during the game between Fiorentina, and Inter Milan. Medical personnel rushed towards Bove within seconds, therefore the match was suspended while players from both teams made their way to the changing rooms.
The midfielder was rushed to Careggi hospital from the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The player's fiancée, friends and parents joined him at Careggi hospital, followed shortly afterwards by his Fiorentina teammates and coach Raffaele Palladino.
Several fans also arrived in front of the hospital with a huge banner read "Forza Edoardo, Firenze è con te" (Come on Edoardo, Florence is with you).
The 22-year-old footballer is hospitalized in intensive care. His condition is stable.
The incident happened just 17 minutes into a Serie A football match in Florence, and the game was stopped after the Fiorentina player lost consciousness and collapsed on the pitch.
According to a club statement, Bove "arrived at the emergency room in stable hemodynamic conditions and the first cardiological and neurological tests performed have ruled out acute damage to the central nervous system and the cardio-respiratory system."
His condition will be re-evaluated during the day, while media reports highlighted that the player has regained consciousness and is responsive.
