Today, Thursday marks the 18th death anniversary of comedian-actor Alaa Waley el-Din.
El-Din was born in 1963 in Egypt. He was the son of late actor Samir Waley el-Din. His father starred on stage with prominent actor Adel Imam in the 1970 comedy play “Shahed Mashafsh Haga”.
The actor died at the age of 40 at the peak of his artistic success, on February 11, 2003. He passed away on the first day of Eid al-Adha due to complications from his diabetes.
Despite his short lifespan, the late actor was seen in more than 140 films with roles ranging from television and film production.
El-Din gained cognition with his roles in films "El Nazer", "Aboud Ala El Hedoud", “Al-Irhab wal Kabab”, and “Dehk we leab we Gad we Hob”.

"Al-Irhab wal Kabab" (1992)
The plot revolves centers around Ahmed who heads to the Tahrir compound to extract papers to move his children to another school. There he faces administrative obstacles and finds himself holding the building hostage.
