Reports from Spanish media, citing AS, suggest that the FIFA is expecting unprecedented financial gains from the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

According to the report, FIFA’s revenues could surpass €9.5 billion, marking a historic record for the organisation.

This surge is attributed to the expanded tournament format, which includes more participating teams, a higher number of matches, and increased logistical operations across three host nations.

A global research study by Bank of America also projected that the tournament could contribute more than €35.5 billion to the global GDP, highlighting the massive economic impact of the event.

The World Cup is also expected to attract nearly 6 billion viewers worldwide, reaching almost three-quarters of the global population.

The same analysis estimates that around 824,000 jobs could be created globally as a result of the tournament, including approximately 185,000 jobs in the United States alone.

Host cities are also expected to invest heavily in infrastructure, with spending projected at around €15 billion to prepare for the event.

With its expanded format and unprecedented commercial scale, the 2026 World Cup is set to become one of the largest sporting events in history in terms of revenue, global reach, and economic impact.
