The FIFA World Cup 2026 clash between Egypt and Iran attracted a record-breaking 107.4 million viewers across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), according to FIFA.

The governing body announced that the match, broadcast exclusively by beIN Sports in the region, became the most-watched live game of the 2026 World Cup so far, setting a new audience record for the tournament.

FIFA said the dramatic encounter, particularly its closing stages, generated unprecedented interest among viewers across the region, highlighting the tournament's growing popularity in the Middle East and North Africa.

The organization added that the figure represents viewership from a single matchday and noted that final audience statistics for the tournament will be released after the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Egypt will now face Australia in the Round of 32 on Friday, July 3, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. Cairo time at Dallas Stadium in the United States.

The Pharaohs reached the knockout stage after finishing second in Group G with five points, remaining unbeaten with one victory over New Zealand and draws against Belgium and Iran. It marked Egypt's first-ever qualification for the World Cup Round of 32.

Australia, meanwhile, secured second place in Group D with four points after defeating Turkey, losing to the United States, and drawing with Paraguay.
