FIFA has officially announced the dates for several major continental tournaments, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, following an executive meeting held in Vancouver.
In a statement released after the meeting, FIFA confirmed that the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 will take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027, with matches hosted across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The governing body also revealed that the AFC Asian Cup 2027 will be staged in Saudi Arabia from January 7 to February 5, 2027. Meanwhile, the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2027 is scheduled to run from June 19 to July 11, 2027.
On the global stage, FIFA confirmed that Armenia and Georgia will co-host the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2029. Additionally, the United States, specifically Miami, will host the final stage of the FIFA Women's Champions Cup 2027 from January 27 to 31.
FIFA also approved the tournament regulations for the Women’s Champions Cup and confirmed that the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2026 will be held in Qatar from November 19 to December 13, 2026.
In governance matters, FIFA announced that elections for the presidency covering the 2027 to 2031 term will take place during the 77th FIFA Congress in 2027, with the electoral process set to begin on April 30, 2026.
The council also unanimously approved launching consultations on a new regulation that would require top clubs to include at least one youth academy player under the age of 20 or 21 in first-team matches, with the proposal expected to be presented next year.
