Portuguese giants FC Porto have officially announced the surprising signing of veteran Brazilian defender Thiago Silva, marking the experienced center-back’s return to European football after ending his contract with Fluminense earlier this week.
The announcement, made on Saturday evening, came as a shock to many observers, especially following recent Italian media reports linking AC Milan with a potential move to bring back their former captain.
However, Porto ultimately moved decisively to secure the player’s signature.
Thiago Silva will be returning to a club he knows well, having previously played for Porto’s reserve team in 2005 during the early stages of his professional career.
After illustrious spells with AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea, Silva is now set for a new chapter with Porto.
The move makes the Portuguese club the fourth major European side he has represented in a career filled with individual and team achievements, as the seasoned defender looks to add another experience to his remarkable football journey.
