FC Barcelona Extend Hansi Flick Contract Until 2028

FC Barcelona have officially announced the renewal of head coach Hansi Flick’s contract, extending his stay at the club until June 30, 2028, with an option for an additional season.

The agreement was signed at the club’s headquarters in the presence of senior officials, including acting president Rafa Yuste, sporting director Deco, and members of the sporting commission, as well as newly elected president Joan Laporta.

Flick’s extension comes as recognition of his successful impact since arriving at the Catalan club, where he has quickly restored competitiveness both domestically and in Europe. His tenure has been marked by a clear attacking identity and a return to consistent title challenges.

During his first two seasons, the German coach has already guided Barcelona to five trophies out of a possible eight, including two La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cups, and one Copa del Rey triumph. One of the standout achievements of his spell was securing a league title with a decisive victory in El Clásico against Real Madrid.

Beyond silverware, Flick has also been praised for his commitment to developing young talent, having handed first-team opportunities to 13 academy graduates from La Masia as part of a long-term project blending youth and experience.

Barcelona’s leadership views the renewal as a key step in continuing the club’s sporting project, with ambitions to maintain domestic dominance and re-establish themselves as a major force in European football over the coming years.
