The director of the American National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, said that the political division in the United States of America (USA) contributed to the “astonishing” Corona deaths and infections.
In an interview with “Reuters” news agency, Fauchi explained that the Coronavirus (also known as COVID-19) pandemic appeared at a time when the United States was suffering from political divisions.
He added that simply wearing a mask “has become a political message more than a public health measure.”
He added that the USA “the richest country”, should not have recorded half a million deaths from the virus.
He indicated that vaccination can help the country achieve “herd immunity”, and protect from deaths and severe cases of disease caused by the Coronavirus.
The USA tops the list of countries most affected by the outbreak of the Corona pandemic and has so far recorded half a million deaths.
The death toll from the Coronavirus in the United States exceeded the number of Americans who were killed during World War II, whose number did not exceed 405 thousand.
The United States has also recorded the largest number of covid-19 infections with the deadly virus since the beginning of the outbreak, and according to the latest figures and statistics, about 11.15 million infections.
The US House of Representatives Budget Committee approved a bill supported by President Joe Biden, worth $ 1.9 trillion, that includes aid to mitigate the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic.
On the other hand, Francis Collins, Director of the National Institutes in the USA said that the statements of the former President Donald J. Trump and the other Republican senior officials politicalized the wearing of a face mask that led to the death of ten thousand Americans.
Collins told Axios, news website, that wearing a face mask was an effective tool to diminish possibilities of catching the Coronavirus.
But Republican officials have described wearing masks as an unreal choice to prevent the pandemic in the country.
