On Sunday, Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts announced that the upcoming edition of the Farouk Hosny Foundation Art Awards will be launched on September 1.
Participants can submit their projects through the official website of the Farouk Hosny Foundation from September 1 to November 1. The contests will take place in different five competitions: Painting, Sculpture, Art Critique dedicated to Fine Arts, Architecture, and Photography.
The first competition is the Painting one; its jury include Dr Aleya Abdel Hadi, the former dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Arts, University of Petra, Dr Huessein Al Shabouri, artist and museum display expert, artist Mohamed Abla, artist Samir Fouad, and Dr Ahmed Ragab Saqr, the former dean of Faculty of Fine Arts, Minya University.
The total value of the prize is EGP 100,000, EGP 50,000 for the first place, EGP 30,000 for the second one, and EGP 20,000 for the third.
The next award is dedicated to Sculpture; this award's jury includes Dr Mohammad Al-Alawy, professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, and the former vice dean for Graduate Studies and Research of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, alongside, Artist Nagi Farid, and Dr Essam Darwish, Professor at Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University.
It also includes Dr Marwa Youssef, the former head of the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts at Zamalek, and Artist Ehab El Labban, the director of the Center of Arts.
The total value of the prize is EGP 100,000, EGP 50.000 for the first place, EGP 30.000 for the second one, and EGP 20.000 for the third.
The upcoming award is Architecture. This edition's Architecture contest will be held under the theme of "The Center of Life: Education, Culture, Knowledge."
The names of the jury members are: Mohamed Abu Seada, the director of the National Authority of Civilization Coordination, Dr Soheir Hawass Zaki, Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Hamdy El Sotouhy, the member of The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), and architect Hatem El Said.
The total value of the prize is EGP 100,000. EGP 50,000 for the first place, EGP 30,000 for the second one, and EGP 20,000 for the third.
Next is Art Critique award which is dedicated to fine arts. The jury consists of Dr Amal Nasr, professor and head of the Painting Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University, Dr Hani Abul Hassan, Professor at Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, Dr Mustafa Issa Ahmed, artist and Fine Art critic, Tarek Abdel Aziz, Fine Art critic and writer, Akhbar Al-Youm Foundation, and Fatima Ali, writer and fine art critic, Akhbar Al-Youm Foundation and Cairo newspaper.
The total value of the prize is EGP 60,000. EGP 30,000 for the first place, EGP 20,000 for the second one, and EGP 10,000 for the third.
The final award is Photography. The names of its jury are: DOP Onsi Abu Seif, CEO of the Arts and Culture Complex Dr Ashraf Reda, artist Ayman Lotfi, artist Emad Abdel Hady, and artist Ayman Nassar.
