Farouk Hosni Foundation Increase Number of Youth Prizes

The board of trustees of Farouk Hosni's Foundation for Culture and Arts decided in its session held today, Saturday, September 19, 2020, to increase the number of prizes awarded to young artists and creators.

In response to the needs of the cultural and artistic community and as an investment for the success of the first session of the foundation prize, which witnessed a large turnout of hundreds of young people.

The Board of Trustees discussed, in its meeting held at the Foundation’s headquarters in Zamalek, all new events, the foundation’s plan, directions, and specializations during the next year 2021.

Also, they discussed the most important areas that the foundation will pay attention to, and the board agreed that all the foundation’s activities should be directed to young people who deserve support, ovation, and encouragement for creativity and innovation.

The meeting resulted in many decisions that serve young people and contributed to introducing them to cultural life in a decent manner.

The board of trustees also supported many areas that have disappeared from public interest despite their importance and inevitability, hence the council developed the strategy for the next session of activities and awards that will be announced at a press conference next week.

The board of trustees of Farouk Hosni's foundation nominated the distinguished journalist Jasmine Taha Zaky to join the members of the board of trustees for her efficiency and permanent support for the foundation.

The meeting of the board of trustees was attended by the artist Farouk Hosni, former Minister of Culture, the chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and members of the Board of Trustees: Dr. Mostafa El-Feki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, engineer Naguib Sawiris, the businessman.

The archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, former Minister of Antiquities attended as well, and Dr. Momena Kamel, Dr. Alia Abdel Hadi, dean of the College of Architecture and Arts - University of Petra - Amman, Jordan, formerly and Vice-Dean of the College of Fine Arts for Postgraduate Studies and Research - Helwan University - formerly, and Professor Tamer Auf, Secretary-General of the foundation and advisor of the former Prime Minister, the writer Muhammad Salmawi, the poet Wael Al-Samri, and the artist Ihab Al-Labban, the director of the arts congregation, Mr. Ahmed Al-Dabaa, Ms. Enas Luqa, and Eng. Abdel Salam Shaier, in addition to Dr. Khaled Sorour in his capacity as the head of the fine arts sector, and Dr. Hussam Lotfi, the legal adviser.

It is noteworthy that the Farouk Hosni Foundation for Culture and Arts is an independent, well-known institution that was established in 2019, and it is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, and the foundation chose the Zamalek neighborhood as its headquarters.

The Foundation is interested in artistic and cultural activity and all branches of creativity and components of culture, according to a concept that confirms that culture can absorb all creative practices of the human being and that it is capable of developing humanity.

The first session of the foundation award received great artistic and media attention, and it also witnessed a great turnout of young creators, critics, and those who are interested in the artistic and cultural movement.
