Faculty of Al Alsun Hosts Japanese, Chinese Academic Delegations

Dr. Salwa Rashad. Dean of Faculty Al Alsun at Ain Shams University received a high-profile delegation from the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA) office in Egypt. She also welcomed another delegation came from Jinan University in China.

The Japanese delegation chaired by Fukazuru and it comprises Muri Bayashi, a new professor at the Japanese Language Department at Faculty of Al Alsun.

The dean and her guests discussed facets of cooperation between the two parties ahead of inking a protocol to develop ways of teaching Japanese language to Egyptian students. The dean reviewed history of the faculty which has been founded by Sheikh Refaa Al Tatawy in 1835. It housed four departments then. It was joined to Ain Shams University in 1973.

It houses now fifteen departments and thirty languages have been taught at the faculty. A department to teach the African languages has been established.

Dr. Rashad added that Ain Shams University is considered as one of the leading academic institutes in the Middle East region. Some two hundred thousand students study in the university in various stages along seventy thousand post graduates.

The university’s professorate comprises fourteen thousand professors.

Department of Japanese language was founded in 2000. One hundred students study at the department now and more others want to join it every year.

The dean of Al Alsun stressed the importance of increasing the annual scholarships offered by the Japanese universities to Egyptian researchers and students along with the joint supervision on the Egyptian researchers come to Japan.

She affirmed that the envisioned cooperation should be carried at many levels to exchange students and professors every year.

Japan sends dozens of students to Arab countries to study Arabic.

On the other hand, a Chinese delegation led by Dr. Lian Rubing, president of Jinan University and Dr. Pu Ru Kian, dean of Faculty of Sciences and Engineering paid a visit at the university. Dr. Jean Ibrahim, head of Chinese Languages at Faculty of Al Alsun attended the meeting.

The dean and her guests of the Chinese faculties reviewed methods of bolstering the academic cooperation between the two universities according to the international standards to sign a protocol to arrange this cooperation.

Faculty of Al Alsun is going to cooperate with Faculties of Foreign Languages and Chinese Cultural.

The Chinese guests hope to send a number of their national students to study Arabic in Egypt and exchange professors of the three faculties.

The dual cooperation between the three academic institutions in Egypt and China aims at presenting cultures to the two friendly peoples.
