Facebook to Ban Weapon Accessories Ads in U.S

Facebook announced on Saturday will suspend ads for weapon accessories and protective equipment in the U.S until at least January 22nd, according to Reuters report.

“We already prohibit ads for weapons, ammunition and weapon enhancements like silencers. But we will now also prohibit ads for accessories,” Facebook noted in a blog post. On other hand, the three U.S. senators sent a letter to Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg on Friday, asking him to permanently block advertisements of products that are clearly designed to be used in armed combat.

The senators, all Democrats, explained that the company must take this and other actions to hold itself accountable for how domestic enemies of the United States have used the company’s products and platform to further their own illicit aims.

Moreover, the FBI has warned of armed protests being planned for Washington and all 50 state capitals in the run-up to the Joe Biden's inauguration.

In addition, the firm blocking the new events on its platform that take place close to locations including the White house, US Capitol and state capitol buildings through Joe Biden Inauguration Day, according to CNBC news.

Also, Facebook reported its operations center will conduct a secondary review of all platform events tied to the inauguration, and remove anything that violates its policies. It’s also continuing to block the creation of US events by non-US-based accounts and Pages.
