The Football Association has charged Harry Maguire, defender for Manchester United, with improper conduct following his actions after being sent off in the recent Premier League match against Bournemouth.
The governing body has given Maguire a deadline that expires tomorrow to submit his official response before any disciplinary action is determined.
The latest development adds to a difficult period for the England international. Last month, a Greek court issued a ruling against Maguire related to an incident that took place more than five years ago on the island of Mykonos.
The court sentenced him to 15 months in prison, suspended, after a retrial that included charges of minor assault, resisting arrest, and attempted bribery.
The report noted that the initial verdict in 2020 was more severe, imposing a 21-month suspended sentence.
The penalty was reduced in the recent ruling, while maintaining its suspended status, meaning Maguire will not serve jail time unless further offenses occur.
Maguire has consistently denied all allegations. His legal team has confirmed plans to appeal the decision in a higher Greek court, a move that, under Greek law, suspends enforcement of the current ruling until the appeal is resolved.
