Formula One has announced rule changes to its hybrid regulations following strong criticism from drivers and teams over the new system introduced this season.
The revised rules come after concerns that the current setup forces drivers to manage battery usage too heavily, reducing speed during key parts of a lap.
Four-time world champion Max Verstappen previously called the system “a joke” and suggested he could step away from the sport in the future if changes were not made.
Following discussions between F1, the FIA, and team bosses, adjustments will be introduced at the Miami Grand Prix on May 3.
Key changes include reducing energy recovery from 8 to 7 megajoules, increasing hybrid power from 250 kW to 350 kW, and limiting the boost system to 150 kW to reduce sudden speed differences.
FIA officials said the updates aim to improve racing performance and safety, while further discussions are expected after the Miami race.
