The release date for the sequel to Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth‘s action movie “Extraction“ has been revealed.
The high-octane action sequel is set to debut on Netflix on June 16.
“Extraction 2” began shooting in November 2021 and wrapped production back in April 2022.
Based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, the original movie featured Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a former Australian special forces operator turned mercenary that is tasked with saving the son of a crime lord who is kidnapped.
The movie ended with Rake saving the boy and surviving getting shot and falling off a bridge.
“Extraction” included the likes of Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, and David Harbour.
In an interview, the film's writer Joe Russo gave insight into how different the sequel is from the first movie and that it has a different color schematic.
"It's set in a different part of the world. It has a different pace, a different tone than the first one. And that, to us, is an interesting way to approach serializing a story, is that it's more surprising and unexpected, and you're not going to get the exact same movie that you got the last time out." he added.
