Parents of high school students residing in the UAE surprised the public by refusing to enroll their children in private universities in Egypt, especially in the practical colleges. The reason is that Biology subject that the students did not study there was replaced by Health science.

Parents are urging the Egyptian Minister of Education and the Council of Private Universities to solve this matter. It is worth mentioning that the parents presented to the Egyptian ambassador in the UAE a request conveying their complaint to Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar.

It said: "We, parents of Egyptian students residing in the UAE call the Minister of Education to intervene and solve this matter. Since the results of the secondary school were announced, some members of the community received high grades. When private Egyptian universities were contacted, they said that the UAE certificate did not include biology a major subject that every student needs to study in order to join the medical scientific college, noting that all students studied this year Health science in English. We have communicated with His Excellency Egypt's Ambassador in Abu Dhabi, who promised to help with the official procedures.

We fear the loss of time because the University Council meeting is held only once a month due to the absence of a cultural attaché.

What is needed is to solve the problem of families whose children are studying in UAE: making Health science a substitute for Biology. This is our only hope. These families, that suffer from alienation, resort to send their children to Asian countries or Eastern European. This costs a lot and undermines the future of our children. Let our motherland universities provide quality education to our children.

Attached is our letter to His Excellency Egypt's Ambassador in Abu Dhabi.
