Everton have officially announced the signing of Jack Grealish from Manchester City on a season-long loan during the current summer transfer window.
In a statement on the club’s official website, Everton confirmed that the 29-year-old England international will wear the No. 18 for the 2025/26 season.
Grealish becomes the Toffees’ sixth summer signing, following Charlie Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, Mark Travers, Adam Aznou, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Speaking to Everton’s media team after completing the move, Grealish expressed his delight at joining the Merseyside club, revealing that the manager’s vision and the passionate fanbase were decisive factors in his decision.
“I’m absolutely delighted to sign for Everton. It’s a great club with incredible fans,” Grealish said. “Once I spoke to the manager, I knew there was only one place I wanted to go. I’ve also received so many messages from Everton fans on social media – that played a big part in my decision as well. Thank you to everyone for the love and support – I hope I can repay it on the pitch.”
Grealish also explained the personal significance behind choosing the No. 18 shirt:
“There’s a reason I picked No. 18. My two favourite English players of all time, Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne, both wore it here. When I knew the deal was close, I checked and saw it was available – it was perfect for me. I even spoke to Rooney before joining and told him about my choice. Hopefully, he’s happy with it too.”
