Euro 2024: July 5 Night: The End of Many Eras

Yesterday, the Euro 2024 witnessed a day full of thrill, emotions, joy, and breakdowns.

The day saw the first two games of the Round of last 8 to determine the first arrivals for the semi-finals.

Spain vs. Germany

Spain national team booked their seats in the Euro 2024 semi-finals after thrashing the nets of the hosts, Germany, 2-1 with scoring the victory goal in the final moments of the second half of the extra time.

In a game witnessed moments of thrill, shock, and joy, Spain were put ahead of the game after Dani Olmo scored a fantastic kick. The ball was passed to Olmo after a nice move from Lamine Yamal in minute 51.

The Hosts didn't give up and continued their attempts to get the equalizer, and finally their efforts succeed in minute 89 by Florian Wirtz.

The game was extended to extra time after the 1-1 draw which ended in a real thriller after Spain scored the victory's goal in minute 119.

The night as it witnessed the joyful eyes of the young Spanish players, the tears of the young Pedri who sustained an injury in the earliest moments of the games, and the eyes of Kroos who said one final say goodbye to the field as he previously announced that his final commitment to the field was Euro 2024 games.

France vs. Portugal

In the headlining game of the night, France came face to face against Portugal or in other words Kylian Mbappe stood against his idol and icon Cristiano Ronaldo. A game meant a lot to Real Madrid fans.

In one of their best performed games in the tournament, Portugal missed several attempts to hit the nets of the French. But, all of them are failed.

The Portuguese fought hard, stopped the attacks of the French and vice versa. Therefore, the game stretched to an extra time which ended with a 0-0 draw.

So, both teams switched to the penalties which witnessed the victory of French, and the farewell for Pepe and Ronaldo.
