Irish Foreign Minister (FM) Micheál Martin said on Monday that European Union (EU) foreign ministers (FMs) held significant discussions for the first time on imposing sanctions on Israel if it does not comply with international humanitarian law.
Speaking to reporters after the Foreign Affairs Council meeting, Martin said, according to the European magazine Politico, "There was a very clear consensus on the need to support international humanitarian legal institutions."
It is worth mentioning that, International Court of Justice recently ruled that Israel must immediately halt its attack on Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip and allow humanitarian aid into the area without obstruction.
