The European Union stocks supplies for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense in Finland, in case of any emergency.

According to the European Commission, 242 million euros (262 million dollars) have been allocated for this purpose.

The money will be used to purchase vaccines, antidotes, medical products and measuring equipment.

In an emergency, aid supplies will be delivered from Finland to affected EU countries or partner countries.

Russia's war against Ukraine underlined the need to strengthen the EU's readiness for strategic reserves, according to EU Commissioner in charge Janez Lenarcic.

Lenarcic added that the reserves will provide an important safety net in the future and will enable a rapid and coordinated response.
