Espérance Sportive de Tunis have officially terminated the contract of head coach Patrice Beaumelle, the club announced on Monday evening.
In a statement, the Tunisian giants confirmed that Beaumelle’s tenure with the first team has ended and that assistant coach Christian Bracconi will take interim charge until the end of the season.
The decision comes after a decline in results both domestically and in African competitions.
Beaumelle had been appointed in March in an effort to revive the club’s season and compete for the Tunisian league title, but performances failed to meet expectations.
Espérance Sportive de Tunis were also eliminated from the CAF Champions League at the semi-final stage after losing both legs to Mamelodi Sundowns F.C.
Domestically, their title hopes faded after a derby defeat to Club Africain, which effectively handed the league title to their rivals.
