The Egyptian state seeks to localize green industries, to benefit from the results of the climate summit (COP27) that Egypt hosted last month.
Egypt plans to implement an integrated program for converting waste into electric energy, including the waste-to-electricity plant project in Abu Rawash in the south of Giza Governorate.
Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, confirmed that the waste-to-electricity plant project in Abu Rawash is being carried out in coordination and cooperation between 4 ministries, including Environment, Local Development, Electricity and Military Production. The project is being established in Giza Governorate on an area of approximately 12 acres.
The minister stated that the waste-to-electricity plant project in Abu Rawash aims to treat 1,200 tons per day of solid waste to produce 30 megawatt-hours, and to achieve an economic return from the waste recycling process.
In the same context, Dr. Tariq El-Araby, head of the Waste Management and Organization Authority, said that the waste-to-electricity conversion plant project in Abu Rawash is part of the transfer of modern technologies in the fields of manufacturing.
