Italian energy company Eni began evacuating all foreign employees from the Zubair Oil Field, according to three Iraqi oil sources cited on Friday.
The field is located in Basra, southern Iraq, and the move comes amid ongoing Iranian attacks across the region that have raised security concerns for international energy companies operating there.
Reuters said the evacuation of foreign personnel will not affect production operations at the oil field, one of Iraq’s key energy assets.
The precautionary measure reflects growing concerns among global energy firms about the escalating security situation in the Middle East, as regional tensions continue to intensify.
